Lo mungkin masih mikir kalau Malang itu cuma soal apel, hawa dingin, dan tempat liburan santai. Wake up, Bro. Realitanya, Malang hari ini adalah tentang macet, aspal yang mendidih, dan perubahan lanskap kota yang bikin sesak.
Di tengah situasi itulah Steel Haze lahir. Terbentuk pada akhir 2024, squad Hardcore ini langsung tancap gas tanpa rem—sesuai judul EP perdana mereka yang disiarkan 1/12/2025 kemarin: “No Brakes, All Rage”.
Hardcore 2000-an dengan Emosi Modern
Steel Haze mengambil rute yang tegas dan lurus. Mereka mainin gaya Hardcore era 2000-an (bayangin vibe Have Heart atau Refused) tapi dikawinkan sama riff modern yang agresif.
Digawangi oleh Rizky Wahyu (Vokal), M. Ayubi Zulkarnain (Lead Gitar), Cahya Basofi (Rhythm Gitar), M. Ramadhan Malik (Bass), dan Wahyudi Febrianto (Drum), band ini enggak mau ribet soal konsep. Musik mereka adalah respon langsung dari apa yang mereka lihat di depan mata sehari-hari.
Merekam Perubahan dan Melawan Mistik
Ada empat trek di EP ini, dan semuanya punya narasi kuat.
Coba dengerin “Abandoned Street”. Ini adalah keluhan jujur tentang Malang yang berubah. Liriknya, “Used to be cool, the air was clean / Now it’s just heat, the traffic obscene,” menampar kita dengan fakta bahwa kenyamanan kota ini pelan-pelan tergerus zaman.
Lalu ada “Feel The Quarrel”. Ini menarik. Di saat banyak orang masih takut sama hal-hal ghaib, Steel Haze justru mengkritik kepercayaan mistis dan klenik yang masih dipercaya masyarakat. Bagi mereka, ketakutan irasional itu harus dilawan, bukan disembah.
Sisi emosional muncul di “Cold Ashes”, sebuah tribut menyentuh buat sahabat yang meninggal dunia (“The little duck sailing through the tide”), dan ditutup dengan “A Numb Letter”, satu-satunya lagu cinta (yang kandas) di EP ini.
Produksi di Tengah Kesibukan Bapak-Bapak
Yang bikin salut, EP ini digarap secara mandiri di tengah hiruk-pikuk kehidupan personal mereka. Rizky Wahyu cerita kalau tantangan terbesarnya adalah bagi waktu, karena rata-rata personil sibuk urusan rumah tangga—ada yang baru nikah, ada yang istrinya lagi hamil.
“Kebanyakan sibuk dengan urusan rumah tangga masing-masing bahkan ada yang baru menikah dan ada yang istrinya masih mengandung,” ujar Rizky Wahyu
Tapi justru di situ letak jiwanya. Kemarahan dan energi di EP ini terasa otentik karena lahir dari orang-orang biasa yang harus survive menghidupi keluarga sambil tetap menjaga api kreativitas tetap menyala.
EP “No Brakes, All Rage” sudah tersedia di semua layanan streaming. Dengerin ini pas lo lagi kejebak macet, biar amarah lo tersalurkan dengan elegan.
